PROFILE - CANDACE WATKINS

Candace Watkins is one of the Directors of the firm and a highly experienced family lawyer who has practised exclusively in family law throughout her career. She has extensive expertise across all areas of family law, including complex property settlements, high-conflict parenting matters, financial agreements (including prenuptial arrangements), as well as litigation and appellate work.

Candace is recognised for her calm, steady presence during what is often one of the most challenging periods in her clients’ lives. She understands that the breakdown of a relationship can be deeply overwhelming, and while emotions are often heightened, she firmly believes the process does not need to be driven by conflict or animosity. Instead, she guides clients with clarity and perspective, helping them move forward with confidence and focus on the next chapter of their lives.

Her approach is both strategic and compassionate. Candace places strong emphasis on building trust and rapport, taking the time to listen and understand each client’s unique circumstances. She ensures her clients are informed at every stage of the process. Known for her direct and pragmatic advice, Candace is honest about the realities of each matter while delivering that advice with empathy and respect, so clients feel supported and prepared for the decisions ahead.

Candace is a capable advocate, with experience in litigation and appeals. She approaches each matter with careful preparation and a clear strategy, always focused on achieving practical and sustainable outcomes for her clients.

She takes particular pride in ensuring that clients leave their initial consultation feeling informed, reassured, and equipped with a clear path forward. Above all, Candace is committed to ensuring her clients feel supported and not alone as they navigate the complexities of separation and resolution of parenting and property matters.

Originally from Rockhampton in Central Queensland, Candace travelled extensively in her younger years and has called Brisbane home for over 13 years. Outside of work, she enjoys Pilates, ParkRun, cooking, and spending time outdoors—often walking her dog early in the morning and after a busy day at the office.
